Vanshika Sathish

Eastlake High School, Sammamish, WA – Class of 2027
Systems Thinkers in STEM Ambassador – Human Health

Vanshika is a senior in high school with a strong interest in medicine, biotechnology, and the ways science can improve people’s lives. Her research paper explores CRISPR gene editing and its potential applications in medicine, including its use in cancer treatment and genetic diseases. She chose this topic because she was interested in how advances in biotechnology could lead to new treatments while also raising important questions about safety and ethics. Through the STISA workshops, Vanshika learned more about conducting scientific research, finding and evaluating reliable sources, and communicating complex scientific ideas in an accessible way. This experience strengthened her interest in biotechnology and her goal of pursuing a career in medicine or biomedical science. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, spending time with friends and family, and sleeping.
