Seoyoung (Trinity) Yun is a current senior at Interlake High School with a strong passion for public health and youth access to healthcare resources and education. From her personal experience with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and research on understanding the youth perspective in healthcare, she is interested in studying public health and biology. Trinity is a part of the healthcare community as an active volunteer at several hospitals, as the Treasury and Outreach Coordinator of her school’s HOSA chapter, and as a NAMI Youth Advisory Board member.
As an ISB STiSA, Trinity expanded her understanding of the “systems” perspective of biology. Trinity hopes to continue to study the systems of biology in laboratories and the real world to better comprehend the complex beauty of biology and healthcare.
In this research, Trinity studies what effect anesthesia has on the viability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells, and what this portrays of the possible effect anesthesia can have on human cell health. Through a self-conducted investigation of using lidocaine cream, she has found that there is still a great need for research and understanding of how over-the-counter anesthetics may impact human health and also realized the importance of increasing awareness about the use of anesthetics.
