Class of 2023
Tier 2 Course: Bioengineering a Sustainable World – Cohort 2

I’m currently a junior at Ingraham High School in Seattle, Washington pursuing an IB diploma, and some of my main hobbies are playing in a jazz band as a trombonist and running for both cross-country and track. Additionally, through a range of collaborative clubs and competitions: IHS Neuroscience, HOSA, MESA, and The Conrad Challenge, I enhance my day-to-day to engage my other interests. To summarize, I simply enjoy doing and thinking about a lot. However, it has been hard to stay invested in things that seem unrelated and practically mundane, like the often compartmentalized topics taught in school. However, when I was first introduced to the “Systems Thinking” approach through the ISB ambassadorship, the method really clicked with me. The logic behind each lesson and discussion was in line with how I think and what I enjoy doing. Due to this, experiments and investigations I’ve previously considered but never fully fleshed out or conceptualized have been developed and improved through the methodology of “Systems Thinking”. As this continues, I hope to implement and adapt my ideas in future projects and potential research and help others do the same for themselves.
