Systems Thinkers in STEM Ambassador – Human Health

I am a senior at Roosevelt High School and for my project I completed a literature review about the impact of patient use of assertive communication on treatment outcomes and quality of care. I was drawn to this topic because I know that when people experience health challenges they can feel emotions like stress, uncertainty, or loss of control, and assertive communication is a strategy that patients could use to increase the likelihood of receiving health care that aligns with their goals. My goal is to become a doctor and to apply what I have learned about effective communication in my professional interactions. Outside of school, I love to make art, especially intricate pencil drawings, and I also enjoy experimenting with different mediums such as oil pastels.
