Systems Thinkers in STEM Ambassador – Human Health

Hi! My name is Laasya Cheruvu, and I am a junior at Bothell High School. I am really passionate about health sciences and psychology, and I hope to pursue a career in medicine in the future. Through my time as a System Thinker in STEM Ambassador, I’ve had the opportunity to explore different fields and concepts regarding public health and medicine, as well as examine them from a systems level perspective.

My paper focuses on adolescent nicotine exposure and its effects on the developing brain and mental health. In my work, I discuss how nicotine interacts with the brain’s reward system, contributes to addiction, and its connection to psychological disorders.

Outside of research, I am a huge cinephile, I enjoy volunteering and advocating for mental health, and spending time with my family and friends.
