Systems Thinkers in STEM Ambassador – Systems Medicine

Kandyce is a high school junior at Inglemoor High School. She has initiated an annual fundraiser for blood cancer research for the past three years at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which sparked her interest in cancer research. As a career, she hopes to explore the intersection between science and technology. In her free time, Kandyce enjoys playing piano, traveling with family, hanging out with friends, and playing golf.

Kandyce’s project at ISB discussed the effects of BRAF V600E on cell proliferation in the MAPK/ERK pathway and the applications of targeted inhibitor therapies. She analyzed the effectiveness of monotherapy vs. combination therapies from various clinical trials.
