Systems Thinkers in STEM Ambassador – Human Health

My name is Kayla Roos, and I am a junior at Nathan Hale High School. I am interested in pursuing a career in the field of biology. My project explores the importance of the human gut microbiome and its influence on mental health. Being a part of the STiSA ambassadorship program has strengthened this interest and has expanded my knowledge of what it means to serve and cultivate community through science. As President of my class for the last three years, and as the Vice-President for HOSA (a health sciences club), I have nurtured my leadership skills by putting together community events and health workshops in hopes of one day making change in the field of STEM. In my free time, I love dancing, hiking with my family, and trying new bubble tea shops around Seattle.
